FILE REPLICATION SERVICE is having trouble. Event ID 13508 Posted on March 14, 2011 by dpejic Event Type: Warning Event Source: NtFrs Event Category: None Event ID: 13508 Date: 2/16/2006 Time: 7:13:51 PM User: N/A Computer: YODA Description: The File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication from \\SERVER0.DOMAIN.local to YODA for c:\windows\sysvol\domain using the DNS name \\SERVER0.DOMAIN.local. FRS will keep retrying. Following are some of the reasons you would see this warning. [1] FRS can not correctly resolve the DNS name \\SERVER0.DOMAIN.local from this computer. [2] FRS is not running on \\SERVER0.DOMAIN.local. [3] The topology information in the Active Directory for this replica has not yet replicated to all the Domain Controllers. This event log message will appear once per connection, After the problem is fixed you will see another event log message indicating that the connection has been established. Resolution: D2 – non-authoritative restore (pull from another DC) D4 – authoritative restore Steps for setting D2/D4 are: * stop file replication service (net stop ntfrs) * Use RegEdit to edit "BurFlags" in the key "hklm\system\currentcontrolset\services\ntfrs\parameters\Backup/Restore\Process at Startup" * edit the dword key "BurFlags" in Hex format. * change from 0 to D2 or D4 * start the file replication service (net start ntfrs) Keep an eye on ntfrs events you should see it saying all OK.
